I didn’t want to buy this, I’ll admit, but the banks have been dropping MS Money support, so I have no option but to switch; the only software the banks now use is Quicken. I wasn’t looking forward to it, because I’ve worked with Intuit products before, various versions of QuickBooks.

It will save it under that day’s date or just as a file. I did not like however, the way Quicken 8 made you update to next version. Trust me, skip it. This is the obvious result of having absolutely no other commercial competitor in your market. I was happy with the functionality of Quicken 2004, but was forced to upgrade to Quicken 2007 for this reason. After complaining, Intuit gave me a free upgrade to Quicken 2008, but now in 2011, again the download functionality is being deactivated and I was forced to purchase Quicken 2011 to keep this feature.

Check Free was offered by the electronic check clearing corporation, which I began using in 1990. It’s all about time management, how you manage your finances, and if you can reduce your time spent on the task, in a word ‚Quality‘, or ‚Lean‘, whichever you prefer.

These days I am a Mac user, but find the Mac products unacceptable, so have been keeping my old PC alive for this one app. While not for the faint at heart, and the speed could be better, everything seems to be working and I have officially retired my PC (yea).

So if you want to begin using Quicken, buy the latest version, the prices here is fair, and know that you’ll be upgrading in three years. If you’re already using Quicken, upgrade every three years, and minimize your software license expense. The error message actually directed me to Intuit’s website (via an embedded link) to insure that my financial institution was supported. It had a search box and link driven letters to hop right to your institution. It loads faster, processes transactions faster, and syncs with online account services faster. The speed improvement over Quicken 2008 is massive and I’m very impressed by this improvement.

Didn’t work, I suspect because Quicken did something in the Windows Registry to disallow the downloaded transactions even under Q2008. So I had to restore my entire computer installation (my entire Disk C) to the last Acronis backup I did a month ago, then tried again with the restored Q2008; this time it worked like it used to.

I will probably change software soon. As someone who typically works about 60 hours/ week I don’t have 30 minutes to waste on quirky software. My husband and I have a farming operation and I’ve always used the deluxe version and it has met my needs in the past. Recently we’ve had some needs to handle a better separation between our personal expenses and business expenses. That was all fine but what good is the program if it misses a transaction here and there“ I am hoping that Amazon will refund me. Amazon is absolutely my pick to buy anything. Love the selection and prices. You can’t cut and paste or copy and paste when editing categories so EVERYTHING has to be typed in. I have a large number of subcategories that are very similar to keep track of transactions with a large number of vendors.

It did work for a few days then Bank of America threw the switch and now says they do not support it. sugar free food.
