It has changed my approach to handling my personal spending and in managing my own business bottom line. I am learning to let money sit, unspent, in my pocket or my bank accounts. A common thread through many of these reviews seems to be along the lines of: „I’ve tried Microsoft Money and Quicken, and they were good at tracking, but not at really budgeting. Then I tried YNAB, and I’ve never been happier“.

I have been using YNAB for coming up on two years now and it, combined with Dave Ramsey’s teachings (Total Money Makeover) has literally changed our lives. We had managed to get ourselves in a bunch of debt and weren’t sure how we were going to make it out of the big hole we dug. Quicken and Mint are maybe even better at showing you what you had already spent. But that is the key- what you have already done.

It would definitely benefit from some more efficient programming (e.g. I think a well written C++ implementation would be way faster and more efficient). This program is a must have to get your financial house in order. I was looking for this type of program since Money 2000! The truth is Quicken and Money are more about having fancy checkbook registers than they are about helping you identify and conform to a budget. This is where they fail. He emailed me back within hours and said a refund was absolutely available, but suggested I wait for the new version that would be available within a day. I waited, and was totally impressed!

The confusing part is that sometimes not placing an item in a category is the correct thing to do, even though most of the time it’s not. That’s actually caught me a time or two. Oh, I’ve never met the software creator or anyone else involved in the YNAB creation. I am a mere consumer who purchased the software and am currently using it. Of course, if you’re trying to discipline yourself and get out of debt, you’re not likely to have that same experience. I find that I still like to keep all my financial accounts in one place and updated. If you take the time to really learn the program then there’s a good chance you’ll like it. YNAB provides a generous trial period when you can get your money back if you don’t like it.

I bought YNAB Pro last July, and since then, I have made measurable progress in the form of a paid off credit card, a steadily growing savings account and an upcoming annual car insurance payment that I’ll be able to pay in full. If you want to be proactive with your finances, you should seriously consider YNAB.

Interface looks good. Community group support is available.

Worth every penny! Just 6 months ago I hadn’t even heard of „You Need A Budget“ (YNAB), but our financial situation was probably screaming out for one.

Even the online book was very helpful to me. car windscreen replacement.
