The Very Best All The Way – Retail Business Software Review
We lost nine months of data which had to be re-input. Plus, every few years we were forced to buy an upgrade in order to have any support. Out of the box Quicken 2011 is an easy installation. It converts your old quicken files if you tell it to or you can start from scratch. I spoke with Quicken and they sent me an address to send my „e-return“ to. I started the process and they say I should get a refund by a paper check in 30-60 days. So basically, Farms are not considered Businesses, according to Intuit. Tech support tried to tell me that they follow IRS rules, but considering that Schedule F is a standard IRS form for Farm Expenses, I had a hard time swallowing that pill.
They have made it harder to use and removed some functions altogether. If you don’t download transitions from your bank then don’t bother with this. And of course they changed the data format. Quicken being practically the only game in town, and I being a long time user of quicken and TurboTax was what dictated my purchase. I guess Intuit went with the lowest bidder. Quicken still loads junkware when loading the program.
Hours later my stuff is still importing one transaction at a time, and each transaction requires several clicks. This is not going to work for active traders and investors!
This BY FAR is the way to go – everything is nicely organized and all the values are now correct. The down side to this is I’m going to have to leave Microsoft Money on the computer for a couple years just in case I need to look up an old transaction. They didn’t hide any menus/buttons, etc. While the software is good minus the online component, I can’t in good conscience give it a good or mediocre rating for the following reasons: 1. Plus, all our accounts are automatically updated, unlike Quick Books which requires manual input. If you don’t have employees, Quicken is a small business owner’s dream. He repeated told me to do it the intuitive way which was wrong but could not tell me how to do it correctly. He researched and asked others.
I figured the Expense Categories were not correct so I began the process to correct them. So after 2 hours on a chat with Intuit, I finally find out that if you have your Expenses tied to Schedule F tax schedules, they are not considered a Business Expense.
Thank goodness for Amazon! It was super cheap and fast shipping! I was very nervous buying this software after the really poor reviews it got but there was not a superior alternative so I took the plunge. I looked at Money Dance but it’s just too basic for what I wanted.
For some reason, my paid invoices came in with a zero amount and the customer payments were missing their categorizations. microwave stands.
