You must complete a series of tests, the first one being the Fundamentals of survey. Once you pass this first test, you will be regarded as a surveying intern. There are many companies offering internship to fresh graduates, and those with good grades have better chances of being accepted.

Companies usually favor those with good scholastic records so if you have earned quite good grades in school, good for you. Apply in a field that is closer to your interest, as this course can cover quite a wide area. Depending on which state you are in, an internship period usually lasts for as long as four years. During this time you will be supervised by a professional surveyor who will also serve as your mentor.

The Practice and Surveying test is administered after the internship. After wards you will have to study hard and prepare yourself for the final test. This is the licensure examination which is supervised by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. If you do good on this one you will finally obtain your license and be known as a licensed surveyor.

Upon becoming a professional in the field you have chosen, it is now time to apply all that you have learned during your college days and your intern years. An entry level surveyor makes twenty two thousand dollars annually. Stack up on experiences because an experienced worker can make up to thirty thousand dollars.
