When a person is asked to ponder on the forest, the first visions that person has is of big trees. The next objects that are visualized are animals, bugs, and rivers. Some people might even see lightning bugs. All of these are correct responses; however, there are many more objects that can be seen if inspected close enough. Forest products enhance daily life for millions of people.

Wood and paper are by far the two most popular known uses of harvested trees. Wood is the framework for buildings and homes, not to mention bridges walked across and wine barrels. Paper is used for professional and private reasons, and as every kid will tell you, for making airplanes! Without paper the power of a hand-written note would never be known.

The list of items made from trees is exceedingly long. However, some trees are better for certain items. There is a tree called the Paper Birch tree, for example. This tree is good for things such as toys and cooking utensils. The Balsam Fir, however, is best for essential oils and musical instruments.

Successful businesses see the forest as a resource for creating things that are in demand. A good example of this is furniture. Until genuine wood can be grown in a laboratory, trees will continue to be cut-down to meet the demands of man.

There are some items that are very entertaining that use wood. Tree houses, dog houses, and skateboard ramps all incorporate wood. There are actually many fun items made from wood when it comes right down to it. Bunk beds are very fun for kids, as are coloring books and toy chests. Adults are attracted to wood-based items such as boat docks and decks.

Some businesses specialize in wood-based items. Such stores are visited by shoppers who want to add unique articles to their homes. They also tend to want to educate and enrich their children’s life’s with items that are reminiscent of a different time. Selling wood-crafted things can be highly profitable to stores that stay a float based on sales.

Even though wood is the standard for a large number of items people use on a daily basis, protests are still voiced against the harvesting of trees. Organized groups make it known cutting down trees causes an imbalance in natural ecology of the general area. Animals and birds are said to be effected. While most people do have a conscious and would not intentionally permanently destroy natural habitat, there are a few people who simply do not care. This is where the argument comes in. Having said this, wood has been used for centuries and trees are still on planet Earth.

Forest products have added a great amount of comfort to daily life. Wood and paper products have been used for many years without causing a global tree extinction. It is advisable to be mindful of the environment and re-plant young trees to replenish those that have been up-rooted. Aside from this, businesses still have the legal right to construct and profit from wood items.
